Congratulations
Smokey Road Concert Band on a superb performance at the Large Group Performance
Evaluation (LGPE)!! Not only did they have an excellent performance on stage,
the ensemble was able to score a SUPERIOR in sight-reading! (The toughest part
of LGPE) The ensemble set the standard for the day as they were the first ensemble to start the 3.12.15 event. The Concert Band only had 15 minutes to warm up compared to the hour the wind ensemble had and was still able to pull a solid performance! Way to raise the bar for the bands that followed!
A
few of the judges’ comments…
“Good
approach to tone quality. Good overall ensemble sound!”
“Great
feel for March style. Band understands phrase structure and plays with feeling!”
“Very
confident reading! Great tonal center… you read with wonderful fluency.”
“Wonderful
Balance in this ensemble, and percussion controlled very nicely”
The
Smokey Road Concert Band provided a class-act performance on and off the stage
that set a standard for future Concert Band ensembles at Smokey Road.
Thank
you to the family and friends who attended to support the band and thank you to
those who had the band in their hearts and mind! A special thank you to Ms.
Pylant for devoting her time to ensuring the safety of the students. Your
efforts are sincerely appreciated.
Once
again, congratulations SRMS Concert Band for representing your school and
yourselves with a superb performance. The Smokey Road family could not be any
prouder!
Go Wildcats!
