Solo and Ensemble

This is a re-post of the solo ensemble schedule.

Date:  April 20, 2013

Location: Mundy’s Mill High School

·      9652 Fayetteville Rd, Jonesboro, GA 30238

Schedule:

7:15   Meet in band room at SRMS

7:30   Load bus and leave for Mundy’s Mill HS

8:40   Arrive at Mundy’s Mill  Students Warm Up

9:00   The first Smokey Road Students start to perform

·      Students will perform during their individual time

·      When not performing, the students will be in the school lunch room

·      Students can bring money for concessions

·      Parents can elect to pick their student up after their performance (sign out with Dr. Boyd or Mr. Satterfield) or they can ride the bus home

·      Be aware that parents and teachers are not allowed in the competition room; however, you can stand outside the room and listen

12:00   Last person performs.  Announce Ratings

12:15   Load the bus to return to Smokey Road

1:30     Arrive at Smokey Road, parents pick students up in the bus zone

A few key points:

This is a pretty big deal.  This is a major event and the first major competition for 6^th grade.  Getting a Superior Rating is something to be extremely proud of.  In other words, the students are earning the right to say that they are the best.

Dress nice (Traditional Sunday clothes).  I have discovered that when a student dresses professionally, they are typically scored professionally.

Bring a sack of snacks or some money for concessions.  The students will have plenty of time to eat.  Students who are full tend to do better at contest.
