6th Grade Wind Ensemble

Parents,

Today we gave 9 students an opportunity to be a part of the Wind Ensemble.  This is the advanced band at Smokey Road Middle School.  They were given this opportunity based on their overall point achievement, academic grades, behavior, and excellence in the band program.

The students were sent home with a letter containing information as well as a calendar.  Here is some additional information:

1.  Those students will need a concert uniform.  They can be rented or purchased.  I suggest purchasing the uniform so that they can wear it for the next three years.  This is also the same uniform that they will need for chorus (if applicable).  Please let me know if there is a financial situation.  No student will be turned down due to money.

2.  I sent home information about private lessons.  This is not required for them to participate in the band, but it is suggested.  Private lessons will also help them to catch up with the advanced band that performs all high school grade literature.  Furthermore, a good lessons instructor can prepare your student to audition for district and state next year.  I have a list of instructors I can send home with your student.  Again, this is not required, but highly suggested.
