I just want to take a moment to say how impressed I was with all of our band students. I can already see this is going to be an extra special year for our band program. Here are a few details that I can tell you about after having had the first day.
1. This will be the largest beginning band that Mr. Boyd has had at Smokey Road in his 6 years as director.
2. This is the largest combined 7-8th grade concert band that Smokey Road has ever had.
3. This will be the best sounding Wind Ensemble yet! If you didn't get the word yet, our Wind Ensemble will be performing as a guest band at the University of Georgia Middle School Band Festival in December.
4. The band is going to be a "Bring Your Own Technology" classroom. By combining this with our new online classroom "Edmodo," we are going to offer the students an ever greater experience. This goes hand in hand with our mission to make band more fun!
Finally, the LEGACY will continue. Our band program has existed for over a decade. Thousands of Coweta County students have been through our band program. Our band has established a tradition of excellence in every aspect of musicianship and citizenship. The only question we have now, is how will you add to that LEGACY?
If you notice in this picture, the emblem has a new change...Excellence, Determination, Innovation...Developing a LEGACY of Leadership!
