Press Release:  Congratulations to the Smokey Road Winter Percussion and the Smokey Road Winter Guard.  Both groups competed in the Southern Association for Performing Arts (SAPA) competition at Mill Creek High School. 

This was the first performance of the Smokey Road Winter Guard.  The group had an awesome first performance and finished only 7 points from 2nd place.  Furthermore, the comments from the judges proved that the girls along with Coach Collinsworth and assistance from Nicole Denney were right on target as far as the direction of the program.  Their next performance will be March 17 at the Forsyth Central Contest.

The Smokey Road Middle School Percussion Ensemble is the reigning SCA SAPA Percussion champion and they continued their winning streak yesterday with an impressive first place finish.  The group had a difficult first show with impending rain, crazy time slots, trailer difficulty, etc, but did not let these issues prevent them from having another great show.  Their final score of 68 puts them in second place overall for the SAPA SCA division in the entire circuit. Their next performance is the WGI Regional on March 3.
